Tips & manual
Using your DOPPLO® correctly, step by step
A few simple pointers to help your listening sessions succeed, along with the complete user manual in French. DOPPLO® does not replace prenatal care provided by a healthcare professional and does not provide any interpretation of baby's health.
Settle in a quiet place
Relax for about fifteen minutes before listening, lying on your back in a quiet room.
Apply enough gel
The gel ensures contact between probe and skin. Too little gel is the number one cause of difficult listening.
Move the probe very slowly
With small movements, tilting the probe slightly. The sound often appears when you slow down.
Follow the zones by week
Early in pregnancy, search low and central, just above the pubic bone. As pregnancy progresses, the area moves up and widens.
Don't confuse the sounds
A slow, muffled rhythm is often your own pulse. Baby's heart beats much faster, usually between 120 and 160 beats per minute.
Clean and store
Wipe the probe with a soft, slightly damp cloth after each use, never immersing it, then store it in its case.
Where to search depending on how far along you are
Indicative pointers for listening zones and fetal heart rate. Every pregnancy is unique: baby's position and body shape change the zones.
120 – 160bpm
Usually faster than mum's

Where to look at each stage of pregnancy
Before 24 weeks
Lower belly
Just above the pubic bone, in the centre then slightly to the sides.
24 to 32 weeks
Around the navel
The area moves up: search around and below the navel, without pressing.
After 32 weeks
Higher up or on the sides
Baby moves more: explore higher up and along the sides.
